Employability Skills (meaning skills gained prior to work) training programs are designed to develop skills required to prepare you to become a trainee in a variety of hospitality establishments. By completing our relevant employability skills courses you get to see what working in a particular job is like. You will also start to develop communication, team work, problem solving and self-management skills, all required by people to ensure their successful transition into work and throughout their working lives. Our employability skills programs include bar and waiting skills, work with colleagues & customers, work in a socially diverse environment together with the mandatory RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol). We recommend and suggest additional training such as Barista, RCG, Food Hygiene, First Aid all training delivered in both theoretical and practical training environments.
Workplace traineeships are currently available in HOSPITALITY:
We have many clients who operate a variety of hospitality industry premises including pubs, hotels, cafes, restaurants in the Sydney CBD, inner west, eastern and southern suburbs of Sydney, Penrith area, Wollongong and south coast areas of NSW, Newcastle, Hunter Valley and north coast of NSW currently seeking new staff who if suitable will be offered a workplace traineeship to obtain a full &/or higher qualification.

Employability Skills Program includes:
- RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol)
RSA is a Mandatory course, required by law. Employers will not employ you until completion of the course and production of a certificate. This has been mandatory since December 2003.
- BSS (Bar Service Skills)
A great practical short skills workshop designed to give you the much needed basic skills to work in any bar environment in a pub/hotel, club, nightclub, etc. Includes: Bar prep, including garnishes, order taking, “pulling draught beer”, mixed drinks, bar closing
- WFS Course (Waiting/Function Skills)
Hit the ground running and have some fun whilst being a professional. Give your employer what they need, and they will give you what you want. Includes: Prepare area for service, set tables, order taking, carry plates, clear tables & carry a tray of glasses plus an understanding of working in functions.
- Work with colleagues & customers
Includes communication skills, teamwork and personal presentation tips.
- Work in a socially diverse environment
Skills for working with people from different countries.
Recommended & suggested further training options:
- FSH (Food Safety for Food Handlers)
This short course is for all people who prepare and handle food. Participants will learn the skills and knowledge required to prepare and handle food safely.
At the end of the course participants will be able to explain and demonstrate the new Food Laws, food and hazard identification, food safety practices, health and personal hygiene obligations and kitchen hygiene .
- Barista
This skills training course gives you the necessary skills to prepare and serve espresso coffee using commercial espresso machines in a variety of hospitality establishments like restaurants, cafes, pubs, clubs and bars.
This course covers both the required theory and is very hands-on.
Topics covered include: selection and grinding coffee, coffee extraction, milk texture, serving and present espresso coffee, cleaning and maintaining an espresso machine, speed and efficiency, customer service.
- RCG (Responsible Conduct of Gambling)
all new staff whose duties are concerned in the conduct of gaming machine activities will be required to complete an approved Responsible Conduct of Gambling course before commencing employment. This short course is delivered by current board approved trainers.
* Conditions
- An Employability Skills program is a required precursor for all students considering a traineeship,
- Intermediate or better level of English is essential for both training and employment,
- Employability Skills Program is a Fee for Service program with Government funding available to eligible students; you need to be registered with an Employment Service Provider
- Interview with THINQ Training to satisfy eligibility criteria prior to confirmation
